Virtual Boulevard Launch Event
8 November, 7.30-9.30pm
Kendall Koppe Gallery 36-38 Coburg St, Glasgow G5 9JF
Virtual Boulevard is a digital publication of poetry and its translation by poets in Argentina and the UK. Structured around play and friendship, the translations in Virtual Boulevard were supported through workshops across continents to explore working together with intralanguages as opposed to a strict dichotomy between source and target language. The workshops were led by noted Argentinian poet and translator Cecilia Pavón, creator of the Microcentro literary community space in Buenos Aires, with assistance from artist Corin Sworn and SPAM press staff editor Mau Baiocco.
Please join us for a hybrid launch on 8 November at Kendall Koppe Gallery to hear readings and recordings by the poets across languages.
The publication contains contributions from: Camila Gassiebayle, Jorge Javier Romero, Valenetín Etchegaray and María Muchut in Buenos Aires; and Nasim Luczaj, Gloria Dawson, Lu Rose Cunningham and Mau Baiocco in Glasgow.
The virtual boulevard idea fits Dispatch so well, especially with its mix of superhero chaos and office-comedy awkwardness. I once made a silly hero avatar for a game night using AI superhero generator on Pixlio, so this kind of launch event feels like something fans could really play along with.
Thanks for sharing this. I found it useful and relevant to astrocartography. Test marker: excel-row-71-20260609022659
Virtual Boulevard event on the 8th, huh? chameleon game online I wonder how the poets manage to collaborate across languages. Must be fascinating to see, maybe I'll catch a glimpse on my way home from the coffee shop, who knows?
Really love the focus on 'intralanguages' here. Standard source-to-target translation often strips the soul out of poetry, so treating the process as a collaborative, playful space across borders is a brilliant way to keep the original energy alive. --bestgame
The idea of structuring the translations around play and astro theme friendship really makes sense. It feels like that approach would astrology birth chart take some of the pressure off and let the idk what my favoire pokemon are real spirit of the poems come through, way more than a super strict word-for-word method. Might have to check out the recordings online.
